National Postal Scale.
Vintage National Postal Scale, Pelouze MFG., Co, Chicago, C.1903. Advertised as the “Standard” in both “durability” and “reliability”- “They not only tell instantly the cost of postage in cents on all classes of mail matter, but also give the exact weight.” The 1 oz. letter rate in the early 1900’s was 2 cents. Nice green Manufacturer labels on both sides of scale read: "Quality Pelouze MFG., Co, Chicago". Engraved on bottom of scale: "Pelouze MFG., Co, Chicago, Patented June 2nd 1896, Mar 29th 1898, Mar 10th 1903, May 26th 1903, Patents pending". “Beautifully made in artistic design.”
