Last Photograph of Gen. U.S. Grant Taken 4 Days before His Death. This historic original cabinet card photograph taken of Civil War General and President Ulysses S. Grant at his summer home in Mount McGregor, July 1885. Taken by Gilman Photographic Studios, copyrighted on July 22, 1885. Gilman, Mt McGregor and Canajoharie, NY printed on back. Grant is comfortably seated on a wicker chair on his cottage veranda wearing his top hat, glasses, and moccasins along with his cane at the seat next to him. Note the Black Gentleman seated inside the doorway. Here within these quiet surroundings he was able to complete his memoirs before succumbing to throat cancer.
The photograph is housed in a beautiful period Eastlake walnut frame (the original backing and glass has been replaced for conservation). Own a piece of American History.
